Teacher check-out: You may check out as many materials as you
need for the semester. Keep in mind that
we are teaching similar units at roughly the same time. We can make it work if we
exercise some sharing and caring! If I am not available when you come by to
borrow materials, please stack them on the counter with your teacher check-out
card from the pocket chart and I will check everything out for you. You will
know your materials are ready because I will place your teacher check-out card
on the stack with the

showing. Classroom visits: Students will begin their special area rotations on September 21th. Enter with your students through the double doors, and please be on time! During your 30 minute visit you can expect one or more of the following: a read aloud, an information literacy lesson, free reading time, book check-out, etc.
Student check-out: Students should wear their badges when visiting the library; it functions as their library card! Beginning in October, students will check-out books. I recommend that you have a special place in the classroom for the library books. They are easier to round up when its time to visit the library and it helps students assume responsibility for their books. If a student does not have his/her book to check-in, we’ll hold off on checking out another.
iBistro: Our library catalog is available online at http://ibistro.austinisd.org and can be accessed from any computer. I have a computer in the library that is dedicated solely to the catalog.
Missed library visits: If you miss a visit due to field trips, school holidays, etc., we can reschedule into an available slot on the schedule. Come by the library and we’ll find something that works.
Additional visits: Classes can visit the library on off weeks during open times on the schedule. The schedule will be posted on the library circulation desk so you can find a time that works for you. The additional visit does not include a story time and will be limited to 10-15 minutes for check-in and check-out only.
Lost books: If library materials are lost or damaged, we will charge a flat fee of $10 for the item. We will contact the parents first by phone then send a letter.
